Filename Convertor is a utility designed to automatically convert long filenames (including file path) to shortname format 8.3. Useful for creating search lists where the shortname format maybe used.



A text file containing a listing of filepaths and/or filenames is selected by the user, once conversion is complete the listing of shortnames can be saved as a separate file. The lising could be used as a keyword search list allowing an analyst to search for both long and short filenames in a forensic investigation.
